What we do
Everything a garden needs, one Bucks team.
From 3D-designed, design-and-build gardens to Jacksons-approved fencing, wildflower meadows, decking, ponds, patios and paving — Monarch covers the lot in-house across Gerrards Cross and south Buckinghamshire, with certified carpentry, electrical and irrigation specialists coordinated where a job needs them.

01Service
Garden Design
Every Monarch garden starts as a considered plan, not a guess. We walk the plot with you, work out how you actually want to live in it — the light, the levels, the views, the way you move through it — and draw the whole thing up. Then we build it as a 3D SketchUp model you can walk through on screen, so you sign off the real garden before a spade goes in. Because the same team that designs it goes on to build it, the model you agree is the garden you get.

02Service
Garden Landscaping
When a garden needs more than a tidy-up, we take it back to the bones and rebuild around how you use it. One in-house team carries the lot — excavation and levels, hard landscaping, fencing, structures, planting and turf — so nothing is lost between separate trades. Charley's 28 years in horticulture sit behind every decision, from setting the falls on a terrace to choosing planting that will thrive in Chiltern soil. It's a single, coordinated project with one team answerable for the finished result.

03Service
Fencing
Fencing is where corners get cut most often, so we fit it properly. As a Jacksons Fencing Approved Installer we supply and install Jacksons' timber and fittings, which carry a 25-year guarantee on the timber treatment — the kind of longevity that made one client note our attention to detail bordered on the obsessive. Posts are set true and to depth so a run of fence stays straight and solid for decades, not seasons. Small fencing jobs start with a free site visit.

04Service
Wildflower Meadow Design
As a Wildflower Turf Accredited Partner, we design and install native wildflower meadows using the Wildflower Turf system — poppies, cornflowers and a mix of native species that bring colour, pollinators and life to a plot. For a home garden it's a beautiful, low-input way to offset carbon and support wildlife; for a commercial site it turns costly-to-mow grass into a meadow that needs cutting once or twice a year rather than weekly. We plan the mix and aspect so it establishes and comes back year after year.

05Service
3D Garden Visualisation
Our 3D visualisation is available as a service in its own right, not just a step in a build. We render your garden as a SketchUp model you can walk through, adjusting levels, materials, structures and planting until it's right — a planning tool that removes the guesswork and the expensive changes-of-mind on site. Whether you build it with us or take the design elsewhere, you start with a clear, buildable picture of the finished space rather than a flat drawing.

06Service
Large Space Landscaping
Bigger plots bring bigger questions — retaining and levels across a slope, drainage, structures that need signing off. For large-space projects we handle the design, commission the surveys and coordinate structural engineering input so the garden is built on sound foundations, literally. It's the same in-house build team and the same single point of contact, scaled up to a scheme where getting the groundwork right is half the job.

07Service
Decking
A well-built deck turns an awkward or sloping area into somewhere you actually spend time. We install decks across the whole range — a compact bistro area to sit out with a coffee, right up to a large raised structure that becomes the centrepiece of the garden. Frames are set square and solid, boards fixed clean and true, and the whole thing built to carry weight and shrug off British weather for years to come.

08Service
Small Space Design
Small gardens are often the hardest to get right, because there's nowhere to hide a mistake. We bring the same design thinking — and the same 3D walk-through — to compact plots, courtyards and side returns, making a tight space feel considered and generous rather than cramped. Clever levels, the right planting, built-in seating or a single water feature can transform a courtyard into the best room in the house. Charley redesigned one client's 'very unique' front area to be child-friendly and easy to maintain, hitting the brief exactly.

09Service
Ponds & Water Features
Water brings a garden to life — sound, movement, reflection and habitat all at once. We install both pre-made water features for a quick, self-contained focal point and fully bespoke ponds and streams designed around your plot, with planting and rockwork that make them look like they've always been there. Where a feature needs a pump and power, our coordinated electrical specialist handles the connection so it's installed safely and runs reliably.

10Service
Patios & Paving
Patios and paving set the frame for everything else, so we build them to hold. We lay porcelain and natural-stone tiles and terraces to proper falls on a consolidated base — not on a thin bed of sand to lift and rock a few years on — and build in the details that make a terrace usable: fire pits, raised planters, and the groundwork for garden buildings. It's the hard landscaping a garden is designed around, finished to the standard the rest of the scheme deserves.

11Service
Fencing & Boundaries
Beyond straight runs of fence, we define and secure boundaries of all kinds — mixing fencing, gates and planting to mark a garden clearly, keep it private and make it secure. Gates are hung to swing true and latch cleanly, hinges and fittings chosen to last, and the line set out so the boundary reads as a deliberate part of the design rather than an afterthought. It works for a family garden or a commercial site alike.
Standards & materials
The parts that make a garden last — not just look good on day one.
Good landscaping is as much about the process and the base you don't see as the surface you do. Here is what sits behind a Monarch garden.
3D SketchUp visualisation
Every design project is modelled in SketchUp so you can walk through the finished garden on screen — levels, materials, structures and planting — and sign it off before a spade goes in. Available as a standalone service too.
Jacksons Fencing timber
As a Jacksons Fencing Approved Installer we supply and fit Jacksons’ timber and fittings, carrying their 25-year guarantee on the timber treatment when installed to their approved standard.
Native wildflower turf
As a Wildflower Turf Accredited Partner we install native meadows — poppies, cornflowers and more — that support pollinators, offset carbon and cut mowing to once or twice a year.
Porcelain & natural stone
Terraces and patios in porcelain and natural stone, laid to proper falls on a consolidated base — with fire pits, raised planters and the groundwork for garden buildings built in where the design calls for it.
How it works
Design in 3D, build in-house, guarantee.
01
Consultation & 3D design
We visit, walk the plot and talk through how you want to use it. For design work and larger projects there's a £60 inc. VAT consultation; small fencing and lawn visits are free. We then build your garden as a 3D SketchUp model you can walk through, so every level, material and planting decision is agreed on screen before we commit to it on the ground.
02
Build & install, all in-house
One Monarch team carries the whole build — groundwork and levels, patios and paving, Jacksons-approved fencing, decking, ponds and planting. We keep the site tidy and talk you through each stage. Certified carpentry, electrical and irrigation work is handled by our own coordinated specialists, so the standard stays consistent and you never manage a chain of trades.
03
Handover & aftercare
We hand the garden over with the guarantees that come with it — including the 25-year Jacksons treatment guarantee on approved fencing. New planting and wildflower meadows need a season or two to establish, so we set you up with clear aftercare and stay on hand. As Sam Tinkler's review put it, the aftercare has been great.
Before you call
Questions we're asked most.
Is the first visit free, or is there a charge?
Small fencing and lawn work starts with a free site visit. Garden design and larger projects carry a £60 inc. VAT consultation, covering a proper hour-and-a-half visit where we walk the plot, take your brief and set up the 3D design — a considered piece of work, not a sales call.
What is the 3D SketchUp walk-through?
We model your garden in SketchUp so you can walk through it on screen and approve the finished scheme — levels, materials, structures and planting — before we break any ground. It's also available as a standalone visualisation service.
Will I actually deal with Charley?
Yes. Charley Carvill founded Monarch in 2003 and leads projects himself, bringing 28 years of horticulture — including training on the greens at Buckinghamshire Golf Club ahead of a PGA tournament — to every garden.
Is the work done in-house?
The core landscaping and build is in-house by one Monarch team. Certified carpentry, electrical and irrigation work is handled by our own coordinated specialists, so you deal with one team throughout.
How does the Jacksons Fencing guarantee work?
As a Jacksons Fencing Approved Installer we supply and fit Jacksons' timber and fittings, which carry a 25-year guarantee on the timber treatment when installed to their approved standard.
Do you take on small jobs as well as full transformations?
Both — a run of fencing, a patio, a deck, a water feature or a wildflower meadow, right up to a complete design-and-build garden. Many clients start with one job and come back for the next.
Not sure what the garden needs?
That's what the consultation is for. We'll walk the garden with you, tell you straight what's involved, and — for design projects — build it in 3D so you can see the finished scheme.
